WCADA has been delivering the Primary Treatment Programme for over 40 years. The Treatment programme is based on the 12-Step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. We are the only recovery centre in Wales that delivers this programme within the community.
The programme is delivered by specialist experienced facilitators and qualified counsellors, who will support you on your recovery journey towards a life free from alcohol and other drugs.
The programme includes:
- Group Therapy
- Counselling
- DVDs and lectures
- Aftercare
Primary Treatment
Individuals accessing primary treatment work on the Minnesota model, which is the first five steps of the AA 12-Step Programme, and will attend weekly group therapy and weekly 1-1 counselling sessions.
The programme will help you to discover the truth about yourself and your substance use; replacing old, unhelpful behaviours with the development of positive ways of thinking so that you can lead a happy, fulfilling alcohol and drug free life.
Treatment may not always be easy. It takes time, dedication and commitment but the recovery journey can be a rewarding one, where all areas of your life can vastly improve.
Aftercare
After completion of the Primary programme you will receive continuing support at our monthly Aftercare group. Through mutual support you can explore the challenges that you may face as you put your new found skills into practice. You will also receive an individual counselling session every six weeks in addition to the aftercare group and this phase of treatment is focused on Steps 6-12.
